KeymasterAs far as I know the background in the Unfold screen is the same as in all other (3D) viewports, and can be set in the Preferences window, Viewport background color

KeymasterThis issue is fixed in the latest update (quarterly release)

KeymasterHave you tried the ‘Copy’ function in the Home->Points menu? This lets you select which (X,Y,Z) coordinates of the first selected point you wish to copy to all other selected points
Maarten
KeymasterIt is not so much that the plates are messed up, as that you have introduced irregular faces (a regular face has 4 edges) If you insert an edge with the ‘Plane’ function you may need to add some edges in order to make sure all faces are regular again. You can tell where the problems with regularity are as you have the interior mesh enabled: where the mesh is built up out of rectangular parts you are OK, where they turn into triangles you have an irregularity.
Not all irregular faces cause problems, but they are harder to create a smooth surface through so it is always a good idea to optimize for regularity

KeymasterFrom the manual:
DELFTship professional also calculates hydrostatic properties of a ship in a wave. The shape of the wave is a sinusoid with given length and height. In most cases the length of the wave will equal the ship length with the wave top at half the ships length
So the top is the location of the wave relative to the hull

KeymasterThat’s strange, for us this works (and we do this a lot)
How do other appsĀ do this on your system? Does Notepad show as expected on the 2nd monitor? (and, just to be complete, you have the monitors set up correctly, so that they are extending, with the right order and orientation?

KeymasterOh, that is something we will need to look at, if we need more info we will PM.

KeymasterHi Nats1113,
What the video refers to is not a lines plan but the ‘Unfold’ feature. This feature takes each layer and (tries to) create a plate you can cut to create the model. Here it pays to strategically divide your model into layers.
This can be a very useful feature once you understand both the unfold process as well as the material you want to use. In the free version you can view the unfolded plates, but you’ll need the Professional version to be able to print them.
Check the forum for discussions.

KeymasterThanks, I’ll pass the suggestion on. No guarantee if, of if then when this may get implemented though.

KeymasterI agree. This odd form of questioning on exit has historically grown, and we hesitate to change it..

KeymasterDELFTship Free has Delft series and Winters (Kaper) included. Savitsky (planing hulls) and Hollenbach are available as a Resistance extension

KeymasterHi.
- Sorry to say, no video tutorials (yet).
- Offsets are tricky, we are looking at a possible way to do this but currently the way to do this is to model the offset surface in a separate layer and model the tank to this
- yes. Do note that external tanks are normally quite complicated in shape ( at least, that is why external compartments were created) simple tanks can easily be modeled normally.
- Can it be that you have your tank set to ‘Center’ instead of port / starboard side? A ‘center’ tank will be mirrored doubling your FSM ( and volume etc)

KeymasterHow do I ‘close’ this box/tank ?
How do you connect adjacent surfaces? Surfaces sharing an edge but not connected. You can see this in the second photo were an edge was moved and you can see the surfaces are not connected.
Help please.
adjacent faces are connected to each other by adding a face to the points between them. But you
Your screenshot seems to show many (if not all) of your points are overlapping. Two points at the same co-ordinates are not the same point.
That said, a screenshot of your model in shaded view might show a different picture.
I would guess your model is the result of an import from IGES?

KeymasterSimilar question:
I am trying to model a tank not integrated to the hull.
I made 8 points, then made a box by adding 6 surfaces. Then the control points disappear and only come back after turning on the leak points.
Is that normal? Do I need to change something else?
Looking at your screenshots, they are hidden when you have leak points enabled (which is correct, your points are not leak) and they re-appear when you disable leak points.
I am not sure why you are modeling tanks in the hull modeler though- especially if you are using hydrostatic layers, you might get some really awkward results for your hydrostatics…

KeymasterI’m afraid there is not much I can do for you there, as we do not have these CAD programs. As far as I am aware we do conform to standards. Have you contacted the suppliers of your CAD software with this?
