When I try to import your file, I get a result- see attachement. What version are you using?

The file extension needs to be *.stl

The STL file import is one of the few differences between the Free and the  Professional version of DELFThip.

So STL import is only available in the Professional version.

    Hi,

What type of screen setup do you have? The first time this window opens, MS-Windows determines where it should be placed. Can you share a screenshot of how this happens for you?

If you are on Win 10, you can try the following to cascade all windows:

    Thanks for the updates.

As far as I know yours is the first and so far the only case of this happening, but we will review the installer configuration just in case.

Glad to hear you got it to work!

I have heard of a small number of people that ran into the Windows Smart Screen removing the .exe, because of a false positive. You should probably still get the question if you are sure you want to install DELFTship.

We tied to contact Microsoft about this, so far we had no response.

    Hi Terry,

The ‘Check model’ normals function needs to check the entire model- as the orientation of normals are interdependent.

In theory we could check the normal orientation of parts that are not at all connected to any other parts , but I am unsure if this would help your case.

    Hi William,

Depending on which version you come from we made some significant changes to the Background images.

They are now called ‘Reference images’, please check the manual on what functionality has been added

Without a screen shot is is really hard to tell what may be going on. Most likely your point is at the intersection of more than 2 crease-edges- this will always make a point a corner point

    Hi Terrance,

It is true that, after extruding, DELFTship does not always ‘knows’ the proper direction of the normals.

At the risk of inverting a lot of manually set normals (make sure you save before you do this!) what happens if you do a ‘Check model’? This should re-calculate all normals in the model.

I cannot reproduce what you are showing me.

Normally the ‘Interior edges’ button will toggle (show/hide) the mesh.

At the top of your image I see a mesh of red lines that I do not understand from simply looking at the image.

Can you maybe share your model with us so we can have a look?

Well spotted, the last ‘undo’ seems top fall off the ‘Redo’ list.

We’ll add it to the ‘todo’ for the next release!

DELFT series is intended for sailing yachts with a displacement hull. The maximum speed listed in the graph is based on the Froude number,.

for planing hulls you will need our Resistance extension.

    Hi Terry,

Thank you for the kind words. Sadly this is something we have investigated in the past and have not been able to solve. It has to do with how OpenGL draws faces and edges- in order to keep the edges visible (at all) the need to have some preference over the faces. Without this setting the output results would become unpredictable, making either edges or faces ‘disappear’ from view.

Certainly, simply model the hull to one side (usually portside) and it should be mirrored for you.

The caveat is that DELFTship will not close it automatically.

Alternatively, provided that the hull itself is symmetrical,  you can first design it as a regular mono-hull, then mirror it and move the now closed part off to port side.

    Hi Terrance,

You are correct in assuming that project related preferences are stored in the DLF file, and program settings in the bd13 file.

This extension may change with a version update, but all delftship related files should be in the preferences folder. We do not track anything, but error log files may end up in the same %localappdata% folder. This is also where undo data (basically temporary project saves) are stored.

Lastly, DELFTship creates a Lock file if you open a project, in the same folder as the project file.

As far as I know there should not be any data outside of those locations, and certainly not in the registry. DELFTship is essentially portable that way.
