I just found….I save under Rhino as a VRML file (it propose vers1 or Vers 2…Only vers 1 works with DS) Then I open the file with DS and I found the boat…Hurra!
But it is a mess…I have now to understand how to manipulate that
Thank ‘s CRUZMAYORA for your help.

    OK
I do the export as “test.igs” in a directory , but when I want to import in DS the DS’s menu doesnt see the file “test.igs”
I see only the following menu: Import>import 3D surface or mesh (five options:Part, FEF file, VRML, Polycad, coordinates)….that’s all.
    so, what is the option….?

    Hi Martijn,
Thank you very much. I start to read from now

    Nice, thank you.
The only Book i found is related to air plane Only And chap 11 is about longitudinal stability

    Hi, martijn
May i get à copy too? I word also on a planniing Hull André this software does not intégrate That…
    Many thanks,

Another way to ask the question is: Why the Fn associated to my 7.5 m hull is 0.4? taking into account that I hope to reach some speed over 50kts …

    Fn=V/(G*L)0.5
    L is 7.5 m
    V is to determine
    G is 9.1
How is defined Fn when you don’t know V ?

In the case of the trimaran is the formula applicable?
The botton hull shape of the main hull is broadly similar to my rib’s hull (zodiac PRO 5.5m) but more narrow so it “looks” longer in term of “finesse” (? in english). So according to what I understand this hull should be faster than my RIB (30 kts with a 6OHP when planning)…6 kts is quite few
    good night

In fact I would wish to know whether at what speed my hull (with 0.3m draught) will plane or not; Do you think this is measurable with delftship
Then I could optimze the profil of the wet surface to minimize the water resistance
what is your opinion about that?

    Hi marven,
what do you mean by “hull speed is obtained”; i have the same problem and the calculation stops at 6kts for “my three hull” ship

    Hi Rob
    I sent you a PM
I opened your file. It’s clear that “my problem” has now disappeared. The second step for me is to understand and learn how to do that….an how to manipulate layers
    Thanks

    Hi Rob
I try to understand what you mean because (in addition of the translation task) I am not yet “easy” with DS…any I try.
The problem I face is: When I shade the perspective view (looking from the aft), something comes to obturate the tunnel between the hulls (what I call the “virtual veil”). When I only activate the “longitudinales”…I see also at the same place some lines which have nothing to do there and “in the air”, not on the hulls drawing.
Thank you for the modifications done…
I also tried tu use layers but my french doc is not really clear about that and unfortunatly I failed…But I understand I have to use this method to go further on this project. My aim is to built a 7.5 meter motor boat…
I will try to work on the returned file this evening.

here is my files…don’t be afraid, please…It is my second test. The first one was a fishing sailing ship (voilier Podeau from bassin du Luxembourg – Paris) which is very efficient
This one is a high speed threehull motorship at this time, only the hul…I have to learn how to design the roof. The side hull sould not lift the ship but only stabilize the platform

tell me what you think about it
you will see my “transom problem” when shadind the hull
two files because two different ways to design the transom…but same problem
    Thanks Eric

(terrible…I did something wrong and lost my “quick reply”..very difficult to re write something…)So:
    It works I effectively get a transom….

But (I have to clarify first that I designed a trimaran motor yatch et I try to close the “complex transom face” with convex and concave faces
Anyway it looks OK up to when I shade,….then I get something like a virtual “veil” (wall) with no thickness at all which “close” moreless the tunnel between the central hul and the lateral hull…?
I hope I do not bore you with my ignorance…
    eric 😉

OK, now I understand…Only the pro version of SU can import dxf files:S …not the free version 👿
Anyway, thanks for your fast and efficient help
see you nexte on the net
    Eric

PS if I may, I have another problem…I can not find in the (US) documentation how to close the aft of the ship….. and the french one I found on the net doesnot talk about that.
