I’m modelling the Onvi 435 rudder which is a hybrid rudder with a mix of skeg and kick-up. Since the skeg rudder is shaped like a U-block, it has an interior and exterior; is the interior calculated as extra lateral area? Same for the upper exterior portion of the kick-up rudder? Because if so then the upper portion of the rudder have 3 times the lateral area than in reality.
I guess if that’s the case it would be better to fuse into one object
Theoretically the lateral area is the projected under water area as seen from one of the sides
thank you, so the little space between the kick-up rudder and skeg-rudder doesn’t count for lateral area?
