ParticipantI am new to Delftship and I plan to be taking off lines from my 23′ skiff and want to make all the correct measurements for a txt file that I can import as a table of offsets.
I need some clarification on how to measure the following from Page 19 of the manual.
1)read deckline-Illustraion 1.7. “deckline height and beam measured on each station”
2)read contour- Illustration 1.8 : “height of contourline on each station”
3)read aft contour- illustration 1.3 “distance of aft contour line to origin on each water line”
4) read forward contour- illustration 1.5 it describes it as “distance of forward contour line to origin on each waterline.
Would someone clarify how to measure these when taking off lines?
regarding #1 does deckline refer to sheerline?
for 2-3, not sure what “contourline” refers to so I need clarification on this.thanks

ParticipantAlso, if someone knows what read flat of bottom, that would be helpful.

ParticipantOk figured out how to take the measurements but my offset file is not importing like it should. Although, I found exporting and then importing an offset table from one of the sample file yields plots that look nothing like the originals.
Can anyone help?

Did you find out how to do this?
I am having the same problem.
If anyone wants to try to reproduce the error, I used the NPL 100A example file.
Delftship creates an offsets file, but I can’t get it to import the offsets correctly.I really hope somebody can help us here, because it would very much enlarge the number of high-accuracy (e.g. benchmark) hulls we could supply to the Defltship database. I have many hulls that I could supply if I was confident that Delftship could import them. (I am also trying to get Michlet and some other codes to export offset files in formats that can be read by Delftship.)
I hate to be critical of a very fine product, and I know the staff are very busy improving the program, but it is not a good look for Delftship to leave such a fundamental question like this unanswered for so long.

ParticipantNo, never got the table of offsets to work. I manipulated the data l to make a waterline coordinate file. which I was able to import.

ParticipantI have been achieving some success with marker points. However. I am still decidedly raw here.
An important feature is that you can introduce multiple 3D lines as sequences of x y z points in the marker source file. You can put in multiple transverse sections, waterlines and buttocks, and longitudinal lines such as sheer, chine, rabbet.
You can then set up you DS lines positions (sections etc) to follow the positions of your marker lines from your offset points.

ParticipantThe difficulty with understanding the offset file column definitions seems to be ongoing. I have the manual for Delftship Free v7.14 ©2015 and the meanings are quite inscrutable. Can anyone confirm my understanding of the following?
- Distance of aft contour points to origin on each waterline: Is this the distance from Aft Perpendicular to the intersection of the stern post/stern profile with the waterline? Or is it the intersection of the aft molded profile contour with the waterline?
- Distance of forward contour points to origin on each waterline: is this the distance from Aft Perpendicular to the intersection of the stem and waterline? Or is it intersection between forward molded profile contour and the waterline?
Height of contour line on each station: Is this the height of the rail line above the baseline, or the depth of the keel line below the baseline, as one post here seems to suggest?
To add to the difficulty, the plans of the wooden merchant I am working with include the inboard plank bearding line, and the rabbet line along the keel/stern/stem.
It would seem that diagrams illustrating these points would be very beneficial. In fact, the entire manual is under-illustrated in my opinion as a textbook author.
Thank you.
