ParticipantHi together,
after opening the default sailing boat, adding a deck to it I did an offset from hull and deck to the inside of the boat.
When I look at the stations now, they look a bit strange at some of the ends (see pictures)
Since I’m quite new to DELFTship free, I’m not sure if this might be a bug or if it was my mistake.
I’d like to have proper stations with the offset thickness of the planking to export them to a 2D-CAD system for further development.
As it is it would be much work and a bit in accurate to rework it in the CAD system.Does anybody know what the reason might be?
Thanks in advance to any hints on this topic!
Best Regards

KeymasterIt looks like you have used the offset tool to generate a second surface, because you actually have 2 hulls. Simply delete one of these 2 hulls to obtain a valid model. I suggest to remove the inner hull.

ParticipantYes, the second hull was created with the offset tool. OK, it works when I delete one hull (I prefer to keep the inner hull), but shouldn’t the stations be drawn correctly even with two hulls?

ParticipantHi motho
I am doing the same as you, I mean developing in DelftShip and export DXF to a 2D CAD.
Draw your lines smaller, taking in consideration the external shell.Best wishes

ParticipantHi Joe,
what do you mean with “draw your lines smaller”?
I think the result of the offset is in general better in DELFTship than in QCAD that’s why I want to use it.
The stations look ok when I use only one hull as indicated by marven, but it would still be nice to have both set of lines properly in the 2-D CAD…Thomas

ParticipantHi Motho
I mean what you get from DelftShip are the outside lines, so if you want the exact lines of the stations you can draw your lines as the inside skin of the shell. Like 7mm in my trimaran of 12 feet.
Best wishes

ParticipantDoing an offset off the original hull to the inside, deleting the outer hull and exporting the stations to 2D works perfectly well for my purposes.
With this I get stations which are exactly the thickness of the planking smaller than the outer hull.
What I wanted to point out is that keeping both hulls, the original and the offset, results in distorted stations.
I still think this is a bug and could be taken into consideration by the development team.Thomas
