Participanthey there,
is there anyone on here who has built a planing hull from aluminum? i am drawing a hull in freeship 2.6 with the view to cutting it out on a cnc plasma table. when i draw it up and develop plates it says up to 3 percent face and edge stress. is there anyone who has experience with this? will it be ok or do i need to somehow fix this before cutting my sheets? thanks so much anyone you will be my hero! -

ParticipantAttach your file to show your aluminum boat.
It facilitates a professional assessment of the project.
Probably it is possible to add lines slightly differently to achieve full developable surface. I know it as I have designed several aluminium boats. See more at my website http://www.sassdesign.netjs

Here you can see how the lines should be added to get a developable surface -

Participantthis would not work for a jet boat… it needs that flat triangle bit on the bottom. here is a picture of something similar. it should be possible to draw this on freeship and then develope plates right?
how would you build this boat you have drawn from aluminum? the bow section would be almost impossible in one piece. ive seen guys build these hulls that are in the pictures below in three pieces. hull bottom and two sides. all bent and formed with a break then welded together.Attachments: -

Participanthow do you get your plates to stay joined like in the rowing skiff? the sides on my jet boat should be able to do this but the program has not done it for me yet. ive done the tutorial and have a fairly good understanding. is the somewhere else i can learn more from?
