Selection problem

  The tutorial indicates that points can be selected in the perspective view. I am unable to do so. All the other views work fine. Is there a problem in my setup or what?

  you cannot select points in perspective view if you have the shading turned on, switch to wire frame by right clicking the model select mode and then wire frame and you should be OK to select points
