I’m using DelftShip Free. I can’t plot the resistance curve for speeds higher than 10 knots, even if I select 50 knots at the “End Speed” field. Any idea? Thanks.

That’s most likely because the selected resistance method is invalid for that particular speed range. 50 knots is pretty fast for a canoe or yacht B)

Many members use DS for motorboats design (if not for seaplanes 😉 ), so will you make the high speeds calculation available with futures DS versions?

      Icare,
The methods currently available simply do not support these speeds as the calculations are based on statistical data for lower speeds. If you want more accurate data I’d suggest to use Michlet.

      Icare,
I think that it would be irresponsible and completely unprofessional to do that.
You should advise your members that they are misapplying the formula.

What I´m currently doing is save the file as 2.6 version and use freeship for resistance calculations, freeship has several methods for calculating the resistance (Holtrop, Wolfson, hollenbahc among others), and I have found the results very acceptable.

so bottom line I combine Delfship and Freeship, with good results

      Regards
