ParticipantPreliminary consideration:
referring to 4.18.90
it’s a great new feature that creased edges are now visible in shaded, gaussian, … views (not only in wireframe and linesplan view as it was before). It gives models a much more crisp look. Even black objects on black surfaces can be made visible now. Well done! But in addition I would wish to have the possibility to switch them completely off again in these views for some occasions. The reason:
Minor color differences (for example coming from a slight different angle) are not visible anymore; this makes it hard to see if a rounded edge is smoothly adjected to the next surface, or if surfaces that have a common edge share the same angle. As a solution I could imagine a check box benath the creased edges size slider in the preferences menu for switching creased edges on/off. Should be self explaining. Or a fourth slider position on the left side were it goes to Zero width completely.
Next feature I think that’d be good: Control edges (red in default configuration) should be dominant to the creased edges. Now they kind of drown in the creased edges. This makes it much harder to see to which point a control line is adjected to and gives the model an unprofessional, kind of deteriorated look. If I don’t want to have the red edges visible I can switch them off anyways! But as long as they are switched on they should be crisp and clear as they were in the former DS Versions.
Last thing within the edges scope – the creased edges of the control points (always black): While I would not need them at all, there may be other users that like them. Why not make it possible to switch them on/off in the preferences menu? The black border makes the control point colors almost invisible in the medium size, and the points are just black for the smallest size. What a waste of the four pixels! Besides: The yellow corona for selected control points works great, I’m really happy you put it back in service again a few versions ago!
best regards,
Maximilian
