In this video right here: https://youtu.be/OmyHdyoktlc?t=32 the guy says that he makes a “parts list” from a lines plan. I’m really new to delftship, but my lines plans just look like a view of the ship from different angles. Is there a way that he modeled his ship in order to do this? I’m trying to design a boat like the one in the video, but I have no clue how he went from the delftship model to a parts list with the specific pieces of wood he needs. I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question, because once again, I’m very green, but I would appreciate any help I can get.

      Hi Nats1113,

What the video refers to is not a lines plan but the ‘Unfold’ feature. This feature takes each layer and (tries to) create a plate you can cut to create the model. Here it pays to strategically divide your model into layers.

This can be a very useful feature once you understand both the unfold process as well as the material you want to use. In the free version you can view the unfolded plates, but you’ll need the Professional version to be able to print them.

      Check the forum for discussions.
