ParticipantHello all,
I’m new on here so be gentle and excuse me if this has already been asked.
I’m trying to import an Ascii file of offset data into Delftship Free. I’ve followed the instructions in the manual as to how the file should be formatted and based my own file on an export of the basic model offered when you run up the software.
When I tried to import it I got “Error in line 2” (or words to that effect). Now, I would believe that my file was wrong except that I also tried importing a newly exported and untouched file and that didn’t work either.
Is there something obvious that I’m missing?
Cheers,
Robert.

ParticipantHi Robert,
I downloaded you text file into Notepad. I did not modify it.
Attached is the fbm file which resulted.
Try re-installing the program using latest version
Regards
BobPS There is obviously quite a bit missing/misquoted in your table i.e. no bow or transom and the deck looks kinda weird.

ParticipantHi Bob,
Thanks for responding.
My software claims to be the latest version.
The hull that you’ve managed to generate is very strange. I generated the offset file from the default hull that the software generates.
The above should be a clicky to a screenshot of said hull; note bow and transom present but no deck. Hmm.
Anyway, I have managed to import my lines by changing my file into a set of 3D curves instead and ended up with something that’s starting to look like the canoe I wanted.
It still needs some tweaking obviously.
Can you tell me how I get the stems to be pointy at the top?
Cheers,
Robert.

ParticipantHi Robert,
Glad you shaped a hull.
1. The 8 points forming the bow were locked, I unlocked them.
2. The top points at the bow and stern need to be corner points to form the “pointy” stems..Regards
