ParticipantHello.
As I know the midship must be placed on the middle of the LWL in sailing yatchs.
Generaly Lcb,lcf, Max Area Section must be located behind of midship through the transom.
How can we be sure that the delftship locates the midship at the middle of the LWL? Does the result of report about lcb, lcf consider the midship as a reference to location? Thanks

ParticipantThe Hydrostatic report in it’s right top corner indicates which is the Midship section location.
Now Delft ship have two options for this either you can put a value defined by the user or indicate as the 1/2 of the design length
This can be done in the Project settings menu, there is a tag named Main Dimensions where you give the main dimensions as per project, the Length is ussually the length between perpendiculars at the maximum draft, however you can choose which length to use and the software will calculate the 0.5L as the Midship section or you can give a fix value and the software will consider it as the fix location of the Midship section.
Just keep in mind that all values will be refer to the origin X=0, Y=0, Z=0.
Hope this info helps.

ParticipantAs I know the midship must be located at the middle of the lwl automaticaly by the program. How do I know the exact place of the midship then I can manually input?
This is very important because all of the parameters are arranged to this referance. -

ParticipantYes, you can manually input the data just go to the Project settings menu, in the tag “Main dimensions”, there is a c`hecked square “Default at 0.5*L”, if that square is checked it will automatically set the midship section at half the Lenght that you indicated in the box above indicated as “length”, if it is not checked you can manually indicate the location of the midship section by inserting the value directlly in the box indicated as “Midship location”

ParticipantCentlemens very thanks o answers but I know all that you dealed.
The problem is where will be the location of midship according to lwl. As you know lwl changes when the geometry is changed. I want delftship places miship automatically at middle of the lwl where ever it is. Please answer this. -

KeymasterDELFTship cannot do that. The middle of the cwl seems impractical anyway. I can imagine why you would want it to have it placed at the location with the largest crossection area, but why half the cwl?

ParticipantHello Marven,
I did not understand what the cwl is.
I have a book “PRINCIPLE OF YATCH DESIGN” it says the midship section must be located at the middle of the LWL. My question is simply how can I do that in Delftship. As I know delftship can locate midship section automatically at the middle of the LOA (Non LWL) or We can manually enter the coordinate of the midship section. But at this time we can not know the exact location of the middle of the LWL. If we know both the start and end point coordinate of LWL then we can easilly calculate the half of the distance. Is my question clear?
