      Hi,

Has anyone got the same problem as I have with the layer properties / calculations? I have an 18ft sports dinghy that weighs 97 tonnes (my calc shows it should be 97 kg).

I would like to know if there is a setting to correct this

      Thanks

      Torgeir

Hey, DS, we have a minor problem…
      Or is just my andropause.
Mumbling about your post and checking my calculations I discovered that I assumed the assigned thickness in the ‘edit’ box in layer’s properties was intended in METERS, so as you can see:

The .pdf report says it is NOT.
But as I persevered in my error? calculations in D.H. report are correct:

      Where’s the bug?
      Any help would be welcome.
      Jurgen.
P.S.: Any other linear measure in DS is in meters, and yes I haven’t noticed yet the incongruence in the .pdf report.

      I agree Jurgen,

Where did the millimetres come from? as far as I can tell nothing has changed and mean hull thickness is expressed in metres so 5 mm = 0.005 m and density is expressed in tonnes/cubic metre e.g. 7.8 for steel.

Personally at this point I don’t see a bug and all my older files have maintained their integrity in the latest version 7.14(280).

Quick and dirty 18 ft dinghy yielded 120kg

      Best Regards
      Bob

      Well spotted!

The thickness in the report is listed in meters. It seems we overlooked the unit in the report, which was accidentally left at mm. That then also explains the weight of Torgeir’s dinghy.

With apologies for the confusion, in the next update this will be fixed.
