I need to import an Autocad 2007 3D file into Delftship for stability analysis and developed plate drawings. The only common link seems to be via an.stl file exported from Autocad and imported into Delftship.

The actual model is very detailed o it has been broken down into sections (solids)with the intent of putting them all together using the import ‘part” facility.

However, all I get is a blank screen when importing, am I missing a step or what am I doing wrong. The hull is a very complex curved unit so taking offsets from Autocad could take weeks of work. Is there a simpler way to import an Autocad file to DS.

I am attaching one of the parts files in the hope that someone out there has worked with .stl files before.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
      Thanks
      Bob

The STL file seems to be missing?

      Hi Marven:
I have sent you an email to info@delftship with the file as apparently the Forum system cannot send .stl format files.

      regards

      Bob,

The files you are trying to import are the binary form of the STL files. Delftship only accepts the ASCII version. Is it possible for you to save the files as ASCII rather than binary files?
