Hello,
I am new to Delftship and trying to modelize a Dutch barge.
After several attempts, I am now wondering if there is any kind of “thumb rule” to determine the best amount of longitudinal (direction) points. I my case the hull is 60 ft (18m) long. So how many points should I try ?
Thanks for your inputs
Yann
It’s a matter of trial and error. The best is to use as few as possible. Jusr try to model the initial shape and you’ll quickly learn in which areas you need more points. You can insert them during the proces, thus refining your model.
Hello,
Thank you for your quick reply. I’ll try the way you said. Since now, I probably used too many points and it’s why a feel lost 😉
Another important thing I understand reading your post is that points don’t need to be evenly distributed along the deckline for instance. I could add more points in some place like curves if needed ?
I was following Tutorial point 11. Shaping the deckline where it’s specified to Try to distribute evenly the points along the curve
Best regards
Yann
