      Good day!

For a while I have been trying to make a proper replica (1:2) of the new Zumwalt-class destroyer DDG-1000, so far I am very satisfied with the design I made mostly in Rhinoceros from other hulls, and then imported it into DelftShip (I actually used FreeShip to begin with, but as FreeShip is very outdated I started using DelftShip instead, much better), I have made many good modifications. I am not a DelftShip professional, and my problem is that I am unable to pull of design hydrostatics over draught of 0.6 meters. I assume there is a problem with the model, of course. I have spotted several leak spots, but I am not sure how to solve this.

I am highly grateful for any help I might receive, as this model is an important part of producing a real life model in 1:200 scale for testing in a proper hydrostatics test pool. I have a model with and without propeller and the propeller shaft if needed. I will update this thread in parallel with the project’s prosperity, and in the end, I hope we can have a proper model that can be used for design hydrostatics so I can make my final changes for the DDG to accomplish it’s model’s different goals.

      With Comradely Regards,

      Daejang Hong Gil Dong

      Maybe you missed something:

Double line of axels, proper transom, and I hope you’ll sort out a sonar bulb better than mine that’s rubbish, indeed.
Mine was just an exercise, if you want the proper DS file to tweak, just ask.
      Bye, Jurgen.

Not bad, Jürgen, not bad at all!

My sonar bulb is very much alike to original, only problem is that it seems to have been messed up in some way in DelftShip… Well, it is a pity.

Could you be so kind to send me this file, maybe I will base my real life 1:200 scale model on this, as I seem to have too many issues calculating the design hydrostatics with my model.

      Here it is Comrade Dong…
Just remember it’s an old sketch, superstructure a bit off line, missile lauchers on wrong place, and worst of all a nice hydrodynamic bulb but not bulky as the original.
Almost waterlines for once are correct…maybe.

Use it as U please, any question…I’m here.
      Jurgen.

      Pangapsumnida, Mr. Jürgen.

Don’t worry about the old sketch, I need only a rough model that is mostly a Zumwalt Class, and this is perfect!

Only problem is that the file was created in a later version of DelftShip, so it won’t open in the new one… Hm, I will try to solve this problem. Maybe you know what to do? I will go and rest for now, as it is almost 09:20 on Sunday, and I have been up all night trying to solve my Zumwalt-problems.

Again, thank you very much! And if this model is successful, I will certainly post the pictures of the finished model in the hydrostatics pool next year!

P.S.: For your concerning about Hydros. you have noticed mine is a scale model too, I haven’t set layers thickness and weight coeff. but everything else works. Important >> if you check water resistance remember to set the actual draught in the “hull” section of the resistance calculation box – it’s 0,3 m. by the way – at the time I had’nt bother to save correctly, sorry.
Meanwhile, I’ll have a look at your drawing if there’s some issue I can find.
      Bye, Jurgen.

Hey, I was typing when you answerd so it was a kind of overlapping confusion: It’s nice you find it useful, for file’s issue just save it in your version: it will work.
      G’night! jurgen.
