ParticipantI am attempting to run the free version of Delftship on an Apple silicon iMac (M1) using Parallels virtual machine. I have a copy of Windows 11 running properly under Parallels. When I attempt to download the latest version of Delftship, Windows blocks the download with an alert that the software is trying to harm my machine.
I have then attempted to download the .exe file directly on Mac OS. The downloads quit consistently after 18.6 megabytes.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Earl

ParticipantOK, I think I have isolated the problem to something Mac OS doesn’t like about the file. I have tried downloading multiple times using Safari with all protections turned off (including system firewall and Malwarebytes) and Chrome with all protections turned off. Identical results in all cases: the download aborts at 18.6 or 18.7 megabytes. Could someone *please* advise me how to get a copy of this software?

ParticipantFWIW, here is the error from the log file:
WK2 download request 0x600005af0c10 with URL <mask.hash: ‘1RarJGY2JUQKw7dflwxaxw==’>: didFailWithError domain: Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1017 “(null)”

KeymasterHi William,
Sorry to hear you are having problems downloading our software.
As we do not have a Mac here, I can not try to find out what is happening- although I know that the most common Windows warning is that our software is not downloaded very often (from their perspective absolutely true) but the warning should have the option to continue anyway.
I would never recommend downloading anything with the firewall or virus scanner turned off- although sometimes using a different virus scanner may help.
Can you maybe try downloading on a different (Windows) PC?

ParticipantThanks for your response. I also do not recommend shutting off firewalls, but I was watching the log file like a hawk during the download.
I am going to ask a friend with a PC to download for me.
If the installation is successful on Parallels, I intend to announce the fact on both Boatdesign.net and the RCgroups sailboat forum, which may stimulate some interest among Mac users. I designed many models on a 27″ Intel iMac with its lovely Retina display using VMWare, but am now trying to restart my work using Parallels on a 24″ M1 iMac.
You might want to put a .zip archive up with the software in case I am successful, as it is clear from the logs that there is some bit pattern in the .exe file that the Mac OS has difficulty with.
Stay tuned 🙂 and thanks again.
Cheers,
Earl
