Hi Forum
I am designing a sailboat of 27 feet (8.2 meter).
I am getting the Displacement/Length Ratio of 211
Most what I read is that higher the number, more easy to sail, less affected by bad weather.
From the other side, the average I am getting for 27′ sailboats newer designs (1998 – 2013) is 173
Some new designs, like Catalina 275 (2013 design) the ratio is 119
Additional input:
Catalina 27 produced from 1971 to 1991 (6662 boats) the ratio is 297
Jeaneau 27′ boats, 3 models, produced from 1972 to 1996 (3460 boats) the average ratio is 220
Any opinion is much appreciated 🙂
Best wishes
Iosif
