Hello. I am an engineering student and I have been trying to figure out how to design my boat in delftship and in freeship with no luck for over a year. I finally am coming on here for help. I have 3 different models in AutoCAD as 3d solid models and when I try to import into delft I get marker points but cannot figure out how to make a mesh. also cannot figure out how to make a solid (i.e. 1 inch thick concrete @ 58 lb/ft^3). this analysis will help us choose which hull to go with. thanks ahead of time!

      Hi Mike!

I’m not sure, but I think you’re doing the job the wrong way. IMHO, I thinks its better to use DelftShip to design your hull first, then to export it to AutoCAD (DXF format) to complete the interior arrangements, fittings and other details.

Hello. Thank you for your response! We have very tight CAD Models. And I have tried designing in Delftship I am just so used to autocad (for civil applications) that I cannot get this designing on delftship. I previously tried to add the cad model but it was the wrong one and I don’t think that it uploaded. I am going to add them to this post.

Models currently being run in CFD as well.

we are leaning towards choosing model 2.
