Apparently it is possible to do it ( a kind of ), I was not sure.

First trouble… and a BIG one, as you can see: the spacing of planks could be a nightmare ( I just used an existing file without taking care of it ).
And of course the mere grid complexity, it takes a long boring time…
As you please, try and let me know.
      Bye, Jurgen.

P.s.: anybody with a better solution is welcome!

Yes, I suppost it is nightmare because I miss any tool for this.

3D Software Blender has such tool. You are able to choose a “control curve” and type a value (distance) in text field.

It is a pitty if no such tool in DelftSHIP. 🙁

Any parametric modeler has such and more functions but the price is: complexity in knowledge and usage; DS is a good compromise and it is aimed for a specific purpose.
Howewer with a bit of wrestling and patience it is possible to…

for aestethic purposes is , quite, good; better with crease lines if you need to develope the planks but I am not sure that all of this would be of any use.
Just for fun, you know. bye.

      Jurgen, thank you for sharing.
      It looks good, to me.

Take it for a try, almost a nice rendering.
If you check it closely it reveals unrealistic, spacing of planks (even if I tried to keep it regular), hull’s curves, overlapping not even.
As a bonus with this kind of grid arrangement (using crease lines on selected edges) is possible to develope the planks: tested!
For a purpose draw a good knowledge of this peculiar construction is needed: the way planks connect at the bow, curvature restrictions, the correct plank size, tapering and overlapping…etc.etc.
Anyway, it was a nice job, said I was’nt sure to succed, so thank you Sir.
      Bye, Jurgen.
