ParticipantI sent this message to DELF but perhaps should have posted it here first. Cheers.
Hi. I’m using your DELFtship 3.2 and I’m wondering if the auto fairing feature is available in that version. Your help directory suggests that it is but using the ‘F7’ key on selected curves generates no response from the software, the curvature plot indicator is present but the smoothing of the lines does not occur. Any assistance you can be is much appreciated.

KeymasterIt should be working, unless of course you have a curve with all points marked as knuckle or corner points. Can you perhaps post the file here or maybe a screenshot of the curves that you want to fair with the controlpoints visible?

Participantonly the end points are corners which i think is normal. [file name=test_for_forum.fbm size=34758]http://www.delftship.net/delftship/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/files/test_for_forum.fbm[/file]

Participantanother question while i have your attention: is there a tool in 3.2 i can use to measure angles on the screen? i am currently holding up a protractor to the screen so i can confirm my dead rise. i’d love to know the correct way to do that. Thanks, Dave

KeymasterSorry, it appears I’ve been mistaken. In the free version the auto fairing tool is disabled…..
To answer your other question:
Thee’s no mesuring tool. In the forum however someone suggests to use the image of a protractor as a background image, which seems a very good solution.
You can use the one below, but there are also plenty available on the internet.Attachments: -

Participantbummer about auto fairing. thanks for the idea on measuring the angles. I will give that a try. I’ve been also using a program call FREE!ship. It shares much in common with DELFT. Can you tell me what if any relationship these two programs have. and it appears the FREE!ship website points to the DELFT domain. is that your trademark? your program?

KeymasterFREE!ship is the old version of DELFTship. In 2007 Free!ship was rebranded DELFTship.

ParticipantI noticed this thread while looking for help. You minght try creating your model in Carlsons Hulls which will fair curves and import into DELFT ship.
Cheers,
Chris
