A subdivided controlnet is indeed not reversible, that is to say not automatically. Doing it manually involves a lot of work. Rather than subdividing the entire control net you can also insert new points on edges and connect the new points with new edges. This is basically the same process as subdividing the entire controlnet, only performed locally (and manually). 😉
