Re:How to get started?
Hi Stan,
are your studing through YDS MacNaughton Group, If you are Tom is not a qualified naval architect but neither was Ben Lexcen. YDS expect you to have prior knowledge of a navel design program to do there course. It took me 2 years to find out the answer to your question. In short no, Delft is a hull and deck surface modeler, at this moment there is no Construction module, I use Delft to design my yacht exterior( because its so easy, at-least for me)and transfer it over to Rhino to do the interiors (Rhino student version). Designing ship or yacht exteriors in Rhino is very very hard to begin with.
But for the small price it cost to buy DelftShip you’d be amazed at what it can do, not only hulls, decks, masts, sails, hatches, railings, wheels, shafting and on and on it goes, you can design the interior but there is no way of aligning interior items with the interior surface of the hull, in other words the interior surface doesn’t exist at this moment but there is an upgrade coming shortly, what goodies will it contain ?????
Hope this was of some help.
